The Augusta County Farm Bureau supports the Hunters for the Hungry program which helps to feed the hungry with surplus deer meat. Because deer are often found feeding on farmland, this program also helps to support crop production and reduce crop loss. Farm Bureau donated to the program a refrigerated trailer (See Photo) to store surplus deer offered by hunters or farmers with harvest permits.

What are the program guidelines?

Farmers, hunters, game checking stations, hunt clubs and others interested in using the refrigerated trailer to store donated deer prior to processing must follow the guidelines below:

The trailer may be reserved for one to 14 days with as much advance notice provided as is practical.

On the scheduled day the trailer can be picked up at the location designated.

Plug the trailer to a 110-volt circuit, and keep it cool while in use.

Deliver the donated deer to a designated processing facility.

When deer have been removed from the trailer, please wash the trailer and return it to the location designated.
