M. L. Everett Jr.

Counties: Dinwiddie, Charles City, Greensville, James City, New Kent, Prince George, Southampton, Surry, Sussex and York

Marvin Lewis Everett Jr., a cotton and peanut producer from Capron in Southampton County, was elected to the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation board of directors May 14. He will represent Farm Bureau producer-members in the counties of Dinwiddie, Charles City, Greensville, James City, New Kent, Prince George, Southampton, Surry, Sussex and York.

He will serve the remainder of a current three-year term held by his father, Marvin Lewis Everett Sr., who retired earlier this year.

Everett and his wife, Jeannette, own Everett Farms Inc. In addition to cotton and peanuts, they grow soybeans, corn, wheat, rye, pumpkins, sweet corn, hay and timber on 1,465 acres. They also own 60 head of cattle. The 1977 North Carolina State University graduate holds a degree in livestock technology.

The Everetts have two children.

Everett is past president and current vice president of Southampton County Farm Bureau. He also serves on both the American Farm Bureau Federation and VFBF peanut advisory committees and the Farm Service Agency committee.

He has served on the boards of the Virginia Peanut Growers Association, Virginia Peanut Growers Marketing Association and Virginia Cotton Growers Association.
