David L. Hickman was first elected to the board in 1997.

He is the co-owner and operator of Dublin Farms Inc., which produces potatoes, corn and soybeans.

Hickman has been an Accomack County Farm Bureau board member since 1982. He served as president of the county Farm Bureau from 1987 until 1994. Before that, he was the county's young farmer chairman for four years.

Currently, Hickman is a member of the VFBF New Services Committee and serves as chairman of both the VFBF Potato and Vegetable Committee and the VFBF Aquaculture Advisory Committee. He is a former member of the VFBF Labor Advisory Committee.

In addition to his Farm Bureau involvement, Hickman serves as chairman of the Virginia Irish Potato Board, is a member of the Virginia Coastal Land Management Council, and is a member and past director of the Virginia Potato and Vegetable Growers Association.
