Carl Tinder, a beef and wine grape producer from Earlysville in Albemarle County, was elected Dec. 18 to a three-year term on the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation board of directors. He will represent Farm Bureau producer-members in the counties of Albemarle, Fluvanna, Goochland, Greene, Hanover, Henrico and Louisa.
He succeeds Edward A. Scharer, also of Albemarle, who was elected VFBF vice president Nov. 29.
Tinder and his wife, Lacy, own The Homeplace Vineyard and a 120-head cow-calf herd. He also manages Adventure Farm LLC, which consists of a 500-head cow-calf herd, a small meat goat herd and a vineyard. The 1995 Virginia Tech graduate holds a degree in animal science.
The Tinders have three children.
With 148,000 members in 88 county Farm Bureaus, VFBF is Virginia’s largest farm organization.
