Scott Sink
State Young Farmers' Committee Chairman
Scott Sink of Rocky Mount, a fifth-generation dairy farmer, has been elected to a two-year term as chairman of the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation Young Farmer Committee.
Elections of officers and directors were held Nov. 29 at the organization’s annual convention in Hot Springs; the VFBF Young Farmer Committee chairman also serves on the board of directors.
Sink has served on the Young Farmer Committee as a district chairman for the past three years, representing young producers in the counties of Carroll, Craig, Floyd, Franklin, Giles, Grayson, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pulaski and Roanoke.
He and his wife, Mendy, operate S.E.S. Agricultural Enterprises, which offers children’s entertainment, concessions
and a variety of agriculture-based services. He also raises produce and hay through a Radford-based partnership, Little River Produce. He is an instructor in Virginia Tech’s Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics and the university’s Agricultural Technology Program and also advises and coaches student groups.
Sink is president of Franklin County Farm Bureau and chairs that organization’s Young Farmer Committee, and he serves on the board of the Virginia Direct Marketing Association.
The VFBF Young Farmer Program was developed for producers ages 18 to 40 to increase their involvement in Farm Bureau and agriculture. The program offers opportunities to build leadership and public speaking skills and become involved in the legislative process.
