Agriculture in Our County

Rolling Rappahannock County is blessed with a diversity of agricultural pursuits -- from apples to strawberries, and everything in between.

Located at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Rappahannock's gently sloping hills provide a picturesque landscape and plentiful forage for the county’s 15,000 head of beef cattle. The fertile soil enables farmers here to grow hay as supplemental feed for their cattle.

The ideal climate also allows farmers to grow more than 380 acres of apples and a few acres each of peaches, blueberries, strawberries and snap beans.

And when the holidays roll around, you may want to visit one of the county's seven Christmas tree farms.
