County Farm Bureaus receive grants
for education projects
Three county Farm Bureaus in Virginia have received grants to help them educate children about agriculture.
The Farm Bureaus in King George, King William and Rockbridge counties were among 27 county or state Farm Bureaus nationwide that received White-Reinhardt Fund for Education mini-grants from the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture and the American Farm Bureau Federation Women’s Leadership Committee.
The grant program provides up to $500 to county or state Farm Bureaus that support new programs or existing projects that teach youth about agriculture’s significance.
The King George County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee will use its grant money to provide agriculture-themed books to three elementary school libraries. All of the books are from the Virginia Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom’s recommended book list.
The King William County Farm Bureau Women’s Committee plans to use its grant to build and stock a Learning Barn for a local elementary school.
The Rockbridge County Farm Bureau Young Farmer Committee will use its grant to build eight Learning Barns—three for county libraries and five for local elementary schools.
