Meat goat symposium scheduled for Aug. 8

The 2009 Mid-Atlantic Meat Goat Symposium will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 8 at the Paul D. Camp Community College Workforce Center in Franklin.

It will include presentations on meat goat economics; finishing goats on pastures; and fencing and predator control.

Registration is free, though a $3 donation will be accepted to help cover costs of the event. Participants are asked to pre-register by Aug. 6. To register, contact any Virginia Cooperative Extension office or Extension agent Rexford Cotten in Suffolk at 757-514-4330.
