Two students win Rural Health Essay Contest
Meghan Mullins of Russell County and Heather Wright of Bland County will receive $1,000 for their winning entries in Virginia Farm Bureau Federation’s 2009 Rural Health Essay Contest.
The contest was sponsored by the VFBF Rural Health Advisory Committee and funded by the Farm Bureau Health Care Consultants Department. High school and college students from Farm Bureau member families submitted essays on “My Future Career in Rural Health in Virginia.”
Mullins is a senior at Clintwood High School and the daughter of Mary Mullins-McCoy of Clintwood. She will attend Virginia Tech in the fall to study animal and poultry sciences, with an emphasis on pre-veterinary studies.
Wright, who is the daughter of Kenny and Glenda Wright of Bland, attends the Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University.
