Farm Bureau Women
On-going Programs
In addition to the Priority Package, Farm Bureau women continue to work in the following areas:
The Farmer's Share
This program helps to educate the grocery-buying public about where their food dollar goes and the affordability of food in the United States. According to the American Farm Bureau Federation, four-fifths of each consumer food dollar go to pay for off-farm expenses such as labor, packaging, transportation, advertising and business taxes.
Food Freedom Day
This statewide campaign points out how U.S. food prices are so low that the average American family will have earned enough money to purchase food for the entire year by Feb. 9.
Media Forum
In an effort to promote good media relations, the women's committee sponsors a media forum each year. Television, print and radio representatives are invited to attend to learn more about agriculture from the farmer's perspective.
Animal Welfare
The Farm Bureau Women's Committee promotes educational programs that show how farm animals receive proper care. This is accomplished by providing speakers and articles for media, conducting farm tours, acting as resource people and displaying animal exhibits.
