ROPS and seat belts

A rollover protective structure, or ROPS, creates a "zone of protection" that prevents the tractor operator from being crushed in an overturn. A seat belt holds the operator within the protective zone in addition to helping him/her maintain control of the tractor.

ROPS and seat belts are required on all new tractors, but they were not originially available on many earlier model tractors or were often removed from tractors once on the farm.

To see if your tractor can be retrofitted with a ROPS, simply contact your local tractor dealer and tell him or her that you are serious about putting a ROPS on you tractor. And, if there is not a ROPS available, talk to the dealer about purchasing a new or different tractor. It's important!
