Cumberland County cattle, forage and forestry producer William F. “Bill” Osl Jr. of Columbia was elected to a second term on the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation board of directors in December 2016.
He chairs the State Fair Youth Development Board and VFBF Forestry Advisory Committee and serves on the Commonwealth Fairs & Events Inc. board and VFBF Investment & Finance Committee. He is a past member of the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation AgPAC board of trustees and the VFBF Legislative Committee and Membership Categories Study Committee.
Osl also serves as vice president of Cumberland County Farm Bureau and is a past president of that organization.
He retired from AT&T and Lucent Technologies after working for 28 years as a corporate officer and vice president.
Osl is chairman of the New York City Rescue Mission board. He has served on the boards of AT&T Consumer Products Ltd., Cancer Hope Network and The Information Communication Institute of Singapore. He is a past chairman of the Commonwealth Regional Council and the Cumberland County Public Schools Foundation Inc.
He has served on the board of supervisors for Cumberland County for 15 years; six of those as chairman. The Albany, N.Y. native holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from St. Michael’s Collage in Vermont.
Osl attends Cartersville Baptist Church. He and his wife, Stephanie, own and operate Oakland Farm. They have five children and 18 grandchildren.
