About BDG

Benefit Design Group was formally acquired by Farm Bureau in 2012 but it has existed since 1989.

Based in Towson, Md., BDG is outside the traditional Virginia market for Farm Bureau companies. The company views this as an advantage because it allows access to the Maryland side of the Washington market.

BDG is a third-party administrator that provides sales, service, billing and administrative support for more than 400 brokers and 2,000 employer groups.

BDG is responsible for licensing, training, appointing and assisting agents to sell and service health carriers’ service, products and plans. The agents work with Anthem, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, Kaiser Permanente, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna and OptimaHealth offering group health, life, dental, vision and disability and voluntary benefits.

Our employees are able to provide unparalleled customer service by participating in continuing learning opportunities that keep them up to date on laws, customer needs and technology. Staff members are trained and/or licensed through comprehensive life and healthcare courses; and they attend continuing education seminars to stay ahead of state and federal legislation requirements.

Staff members use modern technology to prepare invoices and manage enrollment transactions for the thousands of customers they support each month. In addition, they maintain a secure customer and broker online connection for easy account access, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on our website benefitdesigngroup.com.
